Young film editor 'Pete Sake' and evil narcissistic filmmaker 'Les Krakon' have the unenviable task of trying to salvage Penelope's wedding video after she is abandoned at the alter.

Working inside a grim edit suite located in a gothic castle, Pete Sake must overcome all the odds as Krakon does everything in his power to break his spirit.

This film was inspired by the years and years of nightmare stories that had emerged from cutting rooms all over the world. The relationship between Les and Pete is anything but harmonious. Les is an evil man and uses his power of being the 'client' to maximum effect.

I'd never made an animated film before so I had to literally start at the beginning.

I purchased a programme called 'Toon Boom Studio'

and started to learn the basics of 2D animation.

I decided from the off to turn the edit suite into a torture dungeon.

Creating the characters was fun. Giving Les Krakon green skin was ridiculous but added to the horror.

I did a rough recording of all the voices myself and started to layer up music and sound fx.

Once I had plotted out the story I moved over to the 'Toon Boom Studio' programme and began to create the animations.

I would do one shot at a time and it took a many months to get them all done.

The edit for 'Curse of Frankenbite'.

Theo opted for 'Adobe Premiere' over his usual workhorse 'Avid'.

Rendered shots coming out of 'Toon Boom Studio' would automatically

update on his Premiere sequence which saved a lot of time.

Once all the shots had been animated I went into London to get the final voices recorded.

A colleague, Lucy Davies played the part of 'Penelope'.

I told her she could do the voice however she wished, as long as it was really annoying.
Lucy read it in the style of Janet Street Porter and it was perfect.

There were only two other voices in the film. Both done by me!

Pete had to sound soft and humble, Les was posh, entitled with a voice that cut into the soul.

Extra sound design was supplied by Kim Tae Hak and Steve Speed oversaw the final sound mix.

After we had completed the voices I had to animate the characters mouths for every shot to match the new voice recordings.

It took a few weeks.

We were almost over the finish line. All we had to do was create a promotional piece.

Steve Speed kindly supplied the voice for the trailer.
